Social media: Tech impact

Social media is in an era of transient change. Various new technologies are changing how social media platforms are being perceived and used. Foremost among these are AI, blockchain and cloud computing. These technologies are being used to create a rich ecosystem for engagement on social media.

Statistics indicate that over 2.5 billion users shall have at least one social media channel by the end of this year. Savvy marketers are utilizing the advantages these technologies offer to reach more audiences. Owning a social media account today has become as common as having an aadhar card or a social security number.  Digital marketing has fast become the norm with social media marketing being the biggest priority for many a marketing campaign.

AI to the rescue

The advent of newer forms of technology has enabled the use of various tools to win over customers via social media platforms. AI has seemingly sept into some of the most popular social platforms leading to a greater degree of engagement. Many social media platforms already see AI as the future.

Facebook, for instance, for the purpose of image recognition has been using neural networks learning which makes it much easier to find friends. At present, the influence of AI is very subtle on most social media platforms and most of us would not even realize that it is being used.

Today, many companies like Amazon, Spotify and Netflix among others are using AI and machine learning algorithms to create deeper experiences for end users.

As AI develops, one can expect it to create more customized and seamless experiences for end users. Marketers too shall find that their return on investments for marketing campaigns is significantly better once they leverage AI more effective.

A decentralized future?

Privacy remains a focal point of concern and is pivotal to the widespread adoption of various social media platforms. The recent misuse of user data by Facebook and Google has made many users wary of conventional social media platforms.  It is here that the blockchain can act as a panacea for data privacy and security.

Presently, some of the challenges with the blockchain are scalability, transaction per second time and maintenance cost. As per a blockchain technology news, the industry has been looking at various innovative ways to mitigate these woes such as sharding and a novel consensus algorithm.

For social media platforms of the future, striking a balance between various technologies of the future to enrich end-user experiences shall determine a given platform’s success or failure. We are in an exciting time wherein various technologies shall usher in an era of a social media ‘singularity’.

Biometric Blockchain ATMs to Combat Dark Web Card Fraudulence

Dark web credit card duplicity has been on an exponential rise in recent times. This is because of the PIN system which has loopholes. In the past, the PIN system was considered to be the most secure system. However, with the inception of the dark web, the notion has changed.  Gemini Advisory reported last year that 60 million credit cards were compromised in the US over the year and sold on the dark web. These credit card details are purchased by the buyers either for digital purchases or for creating a clone of the card that can be used later at the ATMs to withdraw a handsome amount of cash. The latter type of forgery is difficult to trace as the person withdrawing cash needs to have the PIN and simply cover his face at the ATM. Therefore, banks and other financial service providers have adopted a five-factor authentication process by virtue of which cloning of cards and cash withdrawal is simply impossible. Latest news on blockchain throws light on the installati...

Know Why Large Corporates Are Delinking Blockchain from the Crypto World

The blockchain is not only decentralized but also essentially linked to a rewards mechanism. The objective of the true blockchain concept is to create information blocks in a cycle of the transactions, allow the third parties i.e. the crypto miners to verify the changes to the transactions or contract processes, and ultimately offer a rewards mechanism. Since blockchain is intrinsically linked to cryptocurrency speculation, corporates are overwhelmed to delink the technology from cryptocurrency. This way they are ruining the motive of a decentralized approach to verify transactions and enforce utmost transparency in contracts. According to the blockchain news in Hindi , the biggest instances of this phenomenon are Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IBM. Although both the giants are pioneers in the deployment of blockchain yet they are desisting from reward mechanisms that are crypto-ledger linked. Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched a couple of blockchain-based services at AWS R...
